155 ஓட்டங்களால் வென்றது யாழ்ப்பாணம் மத்திய கல்லூரி அணி.
சென்.ஜோன்ஸ் கல்லூரிக்கும் யாழ்ப்பாணம் மத்திய கல்லூரிக்குமிடையிலான வடக்கின் மாபெரும் போர் என அழைக்கப்படும் மட்டுப்படுத்தப்படாத ஓவர்கள் கொண்ட கிரிக்கெட் போட்டி முடிவடைந்த நிலையில் இரு அணிகளுக்கிடையிலான 50 ஓவர்கள் மட்டுப்படுத்தப்பட் கிரிக்கெட் போட்டி இன்று யாழ்ப்பாணம் மத்திய கல்லூரி மைதானத்தில் நடைபெற்றது.

நாணயச் சுழற்சியில் வென்ற யாழ்ப்பாணம் மத்திய கல்லூரி அணி முதலில் துடுப்பெடுத்தாட முடிவு செய்தது. களமிறங்கிய யாழ்ப்பாணம் மத்திய கல்லூரி முதல் விக்கெட்டினை விரைந்து இழந்தாலும் எட்வேர்ட் எடின், வதூஸனின் துடுப்பாட்டத்தினால் வேகமாக ஓட்டங் சேர்த்தது. இருவரும் இணைப்பாட்டமாக 84 ஓட்டங்களைப் பெற்ற போது 36 ஓட்டங்களைப் பெற்ற வதூஸனன் ஆட்டமிழந்தார். தொடாந்து விக்கெட்கள் அடுத்தடுத்து வீழந்த போதும் எட்வேர்ட் எடினின் தனித்து நின்று ஆடியார். எட்வேர்ட் எடின் சதமடிக்கும் வாய்ப்பைத் தவறவிட்டு 95 ஓட்டங்களைப் பெற்ற போது ஆட்டமிழந்தார். 50 ஓவர்கள் நிறைவில் யாழ்ப்பாணம் மத்திய கல்லூரி அணி 9 விக்கெட் இழப்பிற்கு 259 ஓட்டங்களை எடுத்தது.

துடுப்பாட்டத்தில் மேலதிகமாக ஜேம்ஸ் - 23, கவிகரன் - 30, கோகுலன் 22 ஓட்டங்களைப் பெற்றுக் கொடுத்தனர். புந்துவீச்சில் சென்.ஜோன்ஸ் கல்லூரி சார்பாக ஹரிவதனன் 3 விக்கெட்களையும், அமிதஜன், விதுசன் தலா 2 விக்கெட்களையும் கைப்பற்றினர். 260 என்ற வெற்றி இலக்கை நோக்கித் துடுப்பெடுத்தாடக் களமிறங்கிய சென்.ஜோன்ஸ் கல்லூரி ஆரம்பம் முதல் விக்கெட்களை இழந்து. 32.2 ஓவர்களில் 104 ஓட்டங்களுக்குச் சகல விக்கெட்களையும் இழந்து 155 ஓட்டங்களால் தோல்வியடைந்தது.

துடுப்பாட்டத்தில அதிகபட்சமாக பிரணவன், அட்ரிஜன், கஜீபன், டக்ஸன் முறையே 19, 15, 13, 11 ஓட்டங்களைப் பெற்றுக் கொடுத்தனர். பந்துவீச்சில் யாழ்ப்பாணம் மத்திய கல்லூரி அணி சார்பாக ஜெரிக் துஸாந், கோகுலன், தனுஜன் தலா 2 விக்கெட்களைக் கைப்பற்றினர். 8 ஆவது முறையாக நடைபெற்ற இவ்வாட்டத்தில் முதல் நான்கு தடவைகளும் சென்.ஜோன்ஸ் கல்லூரி வெற்றிபெற்று இருந்தது. இன்றைய வெற்றியுடன் யாழ்ப்பாணம் மத்திய கல்லூரி அதனைச் சமப்படுத்தியுள்ளது. இன்று நடைபெற்ற போட்டியின் ஆட்டநாயகனாக யாழ்ப்பாணம் மத்திய கல்லூரியின் எட்வேர்ட் எடின் தெரிவு செய்யப்பட்டார்.

எமது கல்லூரியின் இலச்சனையும் நிறமும் 1901-1917 ல் உப அதிபராயிருந்த
திரு ரொமைன் குக் அவர்களால் அறிமுகப்படுத்தப்பட்டது.
எமது கல்லூரியின் மகுடவாசகம் இறைவனின் அதி உன்னத மகிமைக்காக என்பதாகும்.இது
இலத்தீன் மொழியை தழுவியதாகும்.எமது இலச்சனை ஒன்பது ஞானகதிர்களுடன் உதயமாகிறது.
இதில் காணப்படும் திறப்பு அறிவின்
திறவுகோல் என்பதனையும் யாழ் யாழ்ப்பாணத்தின் பாரம்பரியத்தையும் குறிக்கிறது.
இதில்காணப்படும் கேடயம் அறிவால் வாழ்க்கைக்கட்டுகளிலிருந்து
விடுபடவேண்டும் என்பதனை குறிக்கிறது.மண்ணிறம் நிலத்தையும்
நீலநிறம் ஆகாயத்தையும் குறிக்கிறது

1956 : The Golden Jubilee celebration of the Old Boys’ Association.

1960 December : All schools in the island other the ones opted to be private were taken by the state.

1962 : A.E. Tamber became the Principal.

1962 April : The property of the school was vested in the crown by Gazette notification.

1964 : A non-Centralite or Wesleyan Methodist, Mr. E. Sabalingam, was made principal.

1981 : The centenary of the introduction of Cricket into Jaffna by Rev. F. Webster, Principal, was celebrated.

1990 November : The college and its building were almost totally damaged or destroyed by aerial bombing. Mr. N. K. Shanmuganathapillai was appointed

as Principal.

1993.01.05 : The special committee appointed by the Old Boys’ Association to determine the date of founding of the College concluded its finding.

1945 October : Free Education scheme of the Government was adopted at the College.

1952 February : Our student N Ethirveerasingham at the age of 20 particiapated in high jump at the Olympic Games geld in Helsinki,Finland, representing

the country and the only student.

1956 : The Golden Jubilee celebration of the Old Boys’ Association.

1960 December : All schools in the island other the ones opted to be private were taken by the state.

1962 : A.E. Tamber became the Principal.

1962 April : The property of the school was vested in the crown by Gazette notification.

1964 : A non-Centralite or Wesleyan Methodist, Mr. E. Sabalingam, was made principal.

1981 : The centenary of the introduction of Cricket into Jaffna by Rev. F. Webster, Principal, was celebrated.

1990 November : The college and its building were almost totally damaged or destroyed by aerial bombing. Mr. N. K. Shanmuganathapillai was appointed

as Principal.

1993.01.05 : The special committee appointed by the Old Boys’ Association to determine the date of founding of the College concluded its finding.
